Tips to Prepare for a Biologic Infusion

Laboratory / Radiology Orders

Complete all necessary tests before each appointment.

TB Test

Be sure you’ve had a recent TB test.

Check Immunization

Communicate with us about any vaccinations while on biologic therapy.

Cold / Flu / Allergie

f you have any flu-like symptoms, fever, sore throat, cough, and on an antibiotic, it is advisable to postpone your Infusion treatment. Talk to our nurses for guidance on resuming therapy.

Surgery / Procedures

Communicate with our nurses in case of any procedure. In some cases, Infusion needs to be postponed. Plan well ahead of time and discuss with the surgeon post-op clearance.

Eat well and Hydrate

Eat a nutritious meal on the day of your treatment.
A
 day before the infusion, drink plenty of water to be sure you’re well hydrated during the infusion. This is believed to make IV insertion easier.

Medications

Stick to your normal morning routine, including taking any other prescribed medications.

Warm Banket

Some people feel an IV gives them a chill, bring a blanket or wear warm clothes.

Kill time

Bring a book, an iPad, as some treatments can be long.

Communicate

With our nurses for any concerns or worries.
